Technology Standards Addressed:
III – Technology for Learning and Collaboration ·A. Learning o1 – Select and use technology tools to enhance learning
Use technology tools, including software and hardware, from a range of teacher-selected options to learn new content or reinforce skills
Description:
I used the Audacity software to create a podcast called Tech Buzz, which was about technology implementation in the classroom. I also instructed my students in using the software, and they created their own podcasts about topics of their choice. These group of students created a show that was in the format of a radio show.
Reflection:
Podcasting was very interesting to me, since one of my hobbies is creating music. Audacity was very similar to Garageband on the Mac, which I had used for fun. I found this project very interesting, and my students did as well. Next time I present this lesson, I will pace it better. I will provides the students with a day of planning, and perhaps a day or two to complete their project in teams. This time, I felt that I rushed the students; however, being digital natives, they caught on pretty quickly.
